EMPLOYMENT LAW: Activist Group Charges Santa Clarita Official of Racism
February 10, 2010
A Santa Clarita city councilman is facing complaints filed by an activist group with the state, local, and federal prosecutors after he called himself a “proud racist.”
According to the Full Rights for Immigrants Coalition, Bob Kellar violated the city’s ethics rule by acting in a racist way when he made comments that condemn illegal immigrants.
Reports stated that formal complaints have been sent by the group to the U.S. Department of Justice.
The issue materialized from the comment the councilman made at a rally the previous month. He reportedly said that he can be called a proud racist if it would mean that he supports America having only one flag and language.
Kellar stressed that his comments were just interpreted differently and he is not in favor of racism.
