Employees at DVD business Nabbed for Identity Theft

Valencia – At least fifty people were arrested by Sheriff's deputies on charges of identity theft at a local DVD business last Thursday.
According to Lt. Brenda Cambra, a spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley sheriff's station, the identity theft victims reported the crime to local sheriff's deputies after they were notified by the Social Security Administration that their names, as well as their Social Security numbers were being used.
Deputies went to L & M Optical Disc West located at 24836 and 24865 Avenue Rockefeller in Valencia and served a search warrant. The police also visited two other locations to look for records, Cambra said.
Several employees were taken away in a sheriff's van at around 2:20 p.m.
Deputies discovered during the investigation that the names and Social Security numbers of the identity theft victims were being used by employees of L & M Optical, Cambra added.
Lt. Carrie Stuart, a watch commander at the Santa Clarita Valley sheriff's station said that the employees will face charges of criminal identity theft and bail was set at $50,000.
