WRONGFUL TERMINATION: Former Professor Sues JFK after Termination for Being Burlesque Performer
March 15, 2011
Oakland – A former college professor who was allegedly terminated for being a burlesque performer is has filed wrongful termination and retaliation charges against John F. Kennedy University, reports said.
Sheila Addison claims in her federal lawsuit filed last week that she was fired from her job as a marriage and family therapist when university administrators found out that she is performing with the Hubba Hubba Revue as “Professor Shimmy”.
Addison said that the only reason she got for being terminated was her burlesque performances which the university claims to be "adverse to the interests of the university”.
Furthermore, Addison says that a male professor who also stripped down at a separate performance was not retaliated against and continued teaching.
The Pleasant Hill-based University denied the allegation and said that it was without merit.
