Man in Motor Chair Pleads Guilty to DUI
October 21, 2009
Minnesota - A 62-year-old man who hit a parked car while riding on his electronic chair in August 2008 pleaded guilty to driving under the influence (DUI) after police found that his blood alcohol level was 0.29 percent, which is three times the federal limit.
Dennis LeRoy Anderson admitted that he consumed eight bottles of beer but blamed the accident to a woman who allegedly jumped onto his La-Z-Boy, causing him to lose his control. After pleading guilty on Monday, Anderson will face six months in jail and two years in probation for drunk driving.
According to police report, Anderson has been previously convicted of DUI.
As part of a ruling, Anderson’s motor-powered lounge chair which has headlights, steering system, and stereo will be auctioned by police.
