Employment Law: Montebello Employees Face More Layoffs and Furloughs

Montebello- At least four workers have been laid off and a dozen others have been required to take furlough days to help reduce the county’s multimillion-dollar budget deficit.

According to reports, nine workers were discharged and dozens of others were required to take monthly furlough days over the previous week.

A city official warned that employees can expect additional layoffs ahead. These layoffs and furloughs are being done to balance the city’s budget without the need to slash its emergency services.

Laid off staff members mainly include full-time administrative workers, as Montebello aims to retain staffing levels in its police and fire department.
