PRODUCT RECALL: Pizza Products Recalled Due to Undeclared Wheat Content

March 29, 2011

Montebello – A California-based supplier has recalled their frozen pizza products found at Trader Joe’s stores because of undeclared allergen content, the Department of Agriculture said.

Completely Fresh Foods had to pull out 131,000 pounds of Trader Joe’s Pizza Al Pollo Asado from the stores after a routine inspection found that the finished product label failed to cite wheat as its spice blend ingredient.

Products covered by the recall are the 10-oz. packages that bear the establishment number “EST. P-974” inside the USDA mark of inspection, and are produced between January 27 and March 27, 2011.

A spokeswoman for Trader Joe’s said that all the pizza products have been removed from grocery stores nationwide. So far, no illnesses have been linked to the recalled products, but consumers with any more concerns should contact Trader Joe’s customer relations.
