PRODUCT RECALL: Safety Regulators Recall 1.5M Graco Strollers
January 21, 2010
Washington - Safety regulators on Thursday has issued a voluntary recall that covers more than 1.5 million Graco strollers which may cause accidental finger amputation or laceration due to a defective hinge.
In a letter sent to US retailers, the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) said the laceration or amputation may happen if children place their fingers in the stroller’s canopy hinge while closing or opening this.
CPSC said they received five cases of fingertip amputation and two incidents of laceration linked to the recalled products which include Alano and Spree Strollers, Travel Systems, and Graco Passage. These strollers, which were imported from China, were manufactured between October 2004 and February 2008.
The recalled strollers were sold by major retailers including Target, Sears, Wal-Mart, K-Mart, Fred Meyer, AAFES, , Babies "R" Us, Toys "R" Us, Navy Exchange, Burlington Coat Factory, and Meijers.
Safety regulators said consumers should contact Graco to receive free cover repair kit before using again the strollers.
