School Board to Discuss Impending Layoffs

Brea – The Brea Olinda Unified School District Board of Education has announced plans to discuss the possible list of budget reductions and layoffs that will be implemented for the next school year in anticipation of the projected budget deficit.

Among the list of possible employees and school officials to be laid off in order to aid the $2 million predicted deficit for two years include 13 high school and eight elementary teachers.

Aside from the reduction of athletic teams’ funds, other positions to be vacated are in information technology, custodial, and accounting division as well as in the district office.

The possible cuts will be implemented following the 6 percent salary reductions for the next two years as agreed upon by employees.
