Woman Pleads Guilty to Workers' Compensation Fraud
November 14, 2009
The Sacramento District Attorney’s Office has announced that the woman who pled guilty to the felony charges of workers' compensation fraud, attempted perjury, and insurance fraud will serve six months in the county jail.
Records indicate that Diane Lynn Hunter was found to be capable of lifting items, shopping, and walking for long periods of time despite her claims of having a work-related back injury.
According to reports, Hunter filed a worker’s compensation claim when she alleged to have hurt her back while lifting a heavy object when she was working as a cashier at a Wal-Mart store in 2007. Hunter also failed to inform her doctor of having other surgeries and being involved in vehicular crash.
The DA had numerous video footage showing Hunter to be walking around and doing various tasks without showing indication of the injury she claimed to have.
Aside from jail time, Hunter also faces five years probation and is ordered to repay a total of $29,225 to the insurance company.
