NHTSA Urges Global Use of Electronic Stability Control System

June 26, 2008

WASHINGTON – The US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has called on United Nations to adopt the electronic stability control systems to become part of worldwide regulation for global auto safety.

NHTSA administrator Nicole Nason announced that the United Nation’s auto safety forum has approved the agency’s recommendation. The electronic stability control system will be used for all new light passenger vehicles. The safety device system is considered as a measure next to seat belts. This is in terms of potential for saving lives and reducing injuries in car accidents.
